About Hartlip, Medway, Kent
Hartlip is a lovely village in Kent. The usual English stereotypes apply, such as having one pub and a church.
Generally, Hartlip has excellent services – the train station is only half an hour from London, and there are many schools to choose from. There is also a great selection of pubs and restaurants should you ever get tired of Hartlip’s very own Hartlip Beer. Hartlip does have its problems, but that is probably true for anywhere in the world.
Hartlip has a railway station with services to London Charing Cross and London Victoria. Hartlip can also be reached by bus from Sittingbourne or Sheerness. There are several schools in Hartlip, including Hartlip Primary School, Hartlip Court Junior and Infant School and Hartlip County Secondary for Girls. Hartlip has a wide choice of pubs and restaurants, including Hartlip Inn, the Hartlip Tavern, and Hartlip Pizza.
Hartlip is a popular area with commuters to London, and top quality housing in Hartlip has a high resale value.
The Kings Arms in Rochester is the best restaurant in Hartlip. They have a fresh menu with a lot of variety, including vegetarian options. Their food is always really delicious, and they have a lot of great drinks to choose from too.
Another one of my favorite stops in Hartlip Medway is The Mill Restaurant at the Grainstore Inn. It’s also trendy, and there are always lots of people coming in to eat there for lunch or dinner. I love this place because it feels homey and welcoming, but it has an upscale atmosphere, too. You can feel the history when you walk through the door.
A new restaurant has opened up in Hartlip, which I’ve been excited to try out called The Grainstore Cafe Pub. It’s located right next door to the beloved Grainstore Inn, which The Mill Restaurant occupies. One of the things that I love about this place is all of the outside seating they have for their customers. The Grainstore Inn has a large patio area where you can eat outside and enjoy the weather too.
I’d heard that The Grainstore Cafe Pub had been bought by the same person who owns the other two restaurants in Hartlip, but I hadn’t been there until recently. I was excited to go and see what it was like finally. I came in one day with Heather and Jasper to have a snack before dinner. We got garlic bread, fries, and onion rings. The food was delicious, but it wasn’t the best meal I’d ever had (I think that honor still belongs to The Kings Arms). That doesn’t mean it wasn’t delicious, though!
In the 1930s, Hartlip became a civil parish in the rural district of Dartford. In 1934 Hartlip Hall was rebuilt, and in 1935 a school was built. The church was dedicated to St John the Evangelist in 1938.
It is an ancient settlement that stands on a hilltop overlooking Rochester. But with modern development, Hartlip Medway has changed dramatically in the past 20 years, with new houses being built and residents relocating from nearby towns such as Swanley and Gravesend.
There have been many changes to this area in recent years, including a new railway station, increased train services from Rochester to London, and an improved road network enabling commuters from all over southeast England to take advantage of this fantastic location.
Hartlip is within easy access (by car) to the M2, M20, and A2, making it an ideal destination for people working in Kent, South East London, or even further afield looking for good quality affordable homes that are not too far away from where they work.
But with all these new buildings and roads, it is essential to remember that Hartlip has a long history going back hundreds of years. One of the most notable buildings in the area is All Saints Church which dates from Saxon times.
Hartlip Station serves the Medway Towns with a direct link into central London (Charing Cross station). There are also regular bus services to towns and villages throughout Kent.
Hartlip is the home of football club Hartlip & P chamberlain football club which plays its games on Chatham Town Fc’s Molineux ground.
