Dry Sand Mark Making

Screen Shot 2020 08 03 at 14.52.23This is such a simple yet effective way to introduce children to letters and sounds. All children love making marks in dry sand, they write, paint and sound out their own names.

Each pre-schooler should know by the time they leave for school how to spell their name, recognise their name when written down  and find letters of their name in other printed materials.

This activity builds and develops their eye and hand coordination, fine motor skills, they learn syllables and how to put letters together to write their own name. So much to learn with just a tray, sand and paint brushes!
