I am sure that many of you know the nursery rhyme twinkle twinkle little star. Have many of you had the children coming home singing different words to this song?
Well that's all part of our letters and sounds program that we started in September to start the process of early readers. When children can use rhyme but change the words they are beginning to learn the art of ready all be it very early stages. So why not encourage this at home get them singing different words to the songs that we all love. Even maybe change the words to their favourite song they sing (maybe let it go) just to see if they can or they try to correct you.
Children also need lots of practice in memorising thing to begin the process of early reading. Do they have a set thing that they do or like to do at bedtime or tea time? What happens if they have it changed can they tell you that it has changed?
We are really doing a big push for school readiness this year at Happy Bunnies and we would love to get all you parents involved.
From the 3rd of October 2014 (Fridays) we are inviting parents to come into the setting to see what we get up to and have a play with their children. its also a really good chance for a chat with the keyworker to see how they are doing. No need to book it in just come along between 930-1130 every Friday. We would really love to see you.
